 IELTS academic assesses English language skills that are needed for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.   It consist of 4 sections: listening, reading, writing and speaking, and it lasts for 3 hours.  All skills are gauged at a band scale of 9, and most school will require 6.5 in total with no band less than 5.5.
